Guardian360
Dear ,

Much has happened within Guardian360 and the information security sector in the past few weeks. We are excited that Jaroslaw Rewers joining our team as a full-stack developer. This adds a much-needed resource to our goal of speeding up the development for the Guardian360 Lighthouse front-end with a special focus on dashboards and reports.

Recent detected vulnerabilities in hardware and software like Fortinet once again underlines the importance of daily vulnerability scanning. While software companies employ an increased focus and awareness on writing secure applications, there is still have a long way to go to get rid of vulnerabilities in software and systems.

Some partners reached out to us concerning developments within the VMware organisation. In response to this, we decided to speed up support for alternative hypervisors. We’re happy to inform you the Guardian360 appliance images can now be converted to many more hypervisors. We still need a couple of months to adapt the Lighthouse GUI to allow our partners to request appliances without the need of converting them, but for now converting seems to work like a charm.

In this newsletter you can read about our upcoming NIS2 Talk Show. If you missed our previous talk show about compliance in the Finance sector, it’s also published on Spotify for your convenience: https://open.spotify.com/show/61DkxqlJkPxQSifSTGvZsh?si=cae682aaff9d4ff0.

On behalf of the Guardian360 team,

Jan Martijn Broekhof
CEO (Founder) / Geschäftsführer (Gründer)

Lighthouse update

Currently there are some thrilling and extensive features that we are investing some time and effort in which are very hidden from what clients can see and experience right now.

One of these features is our Reporting Engine which requires some major changes to our data structure and the completion of our migration project which should happen in the 2nd quarter of this year. The foundation of the reporting engine is already in development.

We do however understand the importance of continuously delivering value to our clients in small increments and are therefore in the process of delivering some much-requested features. Here are some of the features that are being delivered.

Norms per client – in the past, when a client would have access to norms, they would see all the norms that are available even if it is not relevant to them. Partners will now be able to select specific norms for respective clients so that they only see what they pay for. A separate mailer has been sent out in this regard. This will be found by opening the "Compliance" menu and selecting "Norms per Organisation". This feature will benefit clients by only seeing what is relevant to them and will benefit partners to be able to upsell additional compliance modules.

Filtered Issue download – in the past when exporting the issues table, it would export all the data in the grid, neglecting any filters applied. Now the export is based on the selected filter. This makes it much more useful when spinning up reports.

PDF Issue Report – alongside our filtered issues download we have also added a PDF print option to the issue overview page with the ability to add your logo to produce reports with your logo applied on the fly. This is the first step to white labelling which is a request that is a long time coming.

Logging user access – An ISO270001 requirement, this has been delivered in part from a backend perspective, we are actively busy with the UI element.

DigiD 4.0 norm - Lastly, we added the DigiD 4.0 norm to our platform and we are currently investigating if our partners and their clients desire the “Baseline Informatiebeveiliging SURF (BIS)” to be added to our platform as well. If you would find use for this then please let us know!

Besides these features we are also looking at how we can add value by implementing small changes throughout the system. This includes things like a date range filter on the issues table, a specific view for released issues, better export and print functionality and more.

This approach allows us to add value sooner rather than later while still heavily investing in the latest cutting-edge technology.

Obtain or renew your sales or tech certificate

In 2023 we introduced the Guardian360 Sales Expert and the Guardian360 Technical Expert certification. The certificate only has a validity of 12 months and therefore needs to be renewed every year.

If you have not obtained a certificate yet, or should you need to renew, then please enrol for the training right away. Getting (re)certified could affect your partner status as well as the related benefits and conditions.

NIS2 Talk Show

Have you considered that the NIS2 directive could be a profitable opportunity for your organisation? Many organisations see the directive as burdensome and unclear without considering the many opportunities and benefits that NIS2 has to offer.  In order to take full advantage of this, you need to know how to comply with the NIS2 as well as what opportunities being compliant with the NIS2 can bring. Infosec Agent

In our January newsletter we introduced the InfoSec Agent project. This InfoSec Agent project aims to improve the security and privacy of computer users. Currently, while there are applications available that do this, they are mainly aimed at large companies with extensive networks. The purpose of this project is to make vulnerability detection accessible to individual users.

An application will be developed that collects information about the user's personal computer, to discover any flaws in security or privacy of the system. The results will be displayed to the user in a dedicated dashboard, where the current vulnerabilities within the system will be displayed and will include recommended actions to improve the system.

The application will be open sourced. This will allow anyone to use the application for free and keep the development process transparent for everyone.

Keep a close eye to the Github repository as well as the X account of the InfoSec Agent project.

Working at Guardian360

As a genuine software company, Guardian360 operates with a distinct team structure. Our rhythm involves two-week cycles, including a virtual informal coffee session every Monday for the entire team. We have daily stand-ups first thing in the morning with the technical team to share accomplishments, goals for the day to come, and impediments if applicable of course.

Most people do pair programming in the mornings, with afternoons usually dedicated to individual work and ad hoc pairing sessions. Our commercial team has a daily standup as well where we discuss the progress of sales opportunities, potential partnerships, and any feedback from existing partners. We hold product roadmap sessions, retrospectives, and demos every two weeks, promoting joint decision-making and continuous improvement.

Our open culture encourages feedback and experimentation, fostering psychological safety to always speak up and a spirit of continuous learning.
