As this latest and final Guardian360 Partner newsletter of 2023 delivered to your inbox, we at Guardian360 reflect on the year that has passed, and what an awesome year it has been!
This is evident as we reflect on our newsletter archive where all our highs, lows and learnings are shared with you our partners. It has most certainly been a time of growth and action.
To top off a fantastic year, I’m pleased to share with you that I have been asked to represent the association Cyberveilig Nederland (CVNL) by being awarded with a seat
on the advisory board of Dcypher. This public-private platform (Dcypher) aims to align fundamental research in the field of information security with the business needs from vendors, services providers and clients.
In other news, the distribution agreement between Guardian360 and Copaco will be terminated as of 24 January 2024. This means that after this date, no new orders for Guardian360 services can be placed with Copaco. This will not affect existing orders through Copaco which will still be invoiced via Copaco for the remaining term of such orders.
We have once more jam-packed this newsletter with updates. We share some significant developments within our Lighthouse platform, you can read a reflection on our first ever talk show, and we inform you about the state of IT Security in Germany.
This is

Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a cyber-safe 2024. On behalf of the Guardian360 team,

Lighthouse update
UI Updates
While we are in the process of finalising the beta version of our new dashboard, some may have noticed some “not-so-minor" UI changes to Lighthouse.
These changes include an updated header with new colours and a more compact refactored layout, an improved menu structure, titles moved to the main toolbar to give more screen realty to tables and some other minor UI updates.
These
changes have been implemented to give a more modern and functional aesthetic as we methodically upgrade our front-end infrastructure.
These are sorely needed changes because while there is much substance within our platform behind the scenes, it is a fact that people are driven very much by the way software looks: ‘if it looks outdated then it must be outdated’. This perception is not necessarily aligned with reality as some very good-looking software is rubbish and some ugly software is very robust, efficient and useful.
We aim to produce quality software that is sexy on the outside as well as on the inside.
Some upcoming UI updates to look out for include:
More modern looking tables with sticky headers
Fixing collapsed menu
Tweaks to UI elements such as the way persistent notifications display
More Feature Updates
In the same way that UI improvements have been appearing in the application, there have also been some other improvements that have been requested by clients through our service desk. These types of updates are often overlooked but form a big part of what makes our service robust and complete.
Some of these updates include:
Changed Hacker Alert Email subject so that it is prefixed with the company name
Daily Report recipients are no longer visible to each other
When there are no issues found in the daily report content a ”No issues found” line is printed. This text will be used to apply an email rule to set these “empty” reports apart.
A “Daily Accepted Issues” report sent by mail is currently in beta testing with one of our partners
CWE and FQDN have been added to our overview of all issues found
This all affirms our goal of delivering smaller and more often so that we can produce results that
respond to the current demand of our client’s needs.
From the SRE Team
While the SRE team spent much time over the past month helping clients solve their various issues, they have been hard at work innovating to make the platform more robust and reliable. This is never ending work as technology constantly improves and due to the fast pace of technologies vulnerabilities also abound.
The amount of work that has gone into the following list is quite substantial, even though we are listing it in a few lines:
Talk Show “How information security contributes to compliance in finance”.
This month was an interesting milestone for us at Guardian360 as we
hosted our first ever talk show.
Thought leaders from the finance sector discussed the increasing pressure to become compliant and how financial professionals are required to be involved with information security.
Topics covered include the motivation of organisations to comply with norms and regulations, understanding supply chains, how information security can become a
business driver and whether administrative tasks should be seen as a burden or simply part of acting professionally.
We also discussed how the scope of responsibilities for CFOs will change and how automated reporting can contribute to bridging the gap between compliance on paper and effective information security.
We concluded by sharing which foundational architecture decisions are essential to create a working information security and compliance framework.
The talk show recording is available for replay via the button below.
With its annual report on the state of IT security in Germany, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) provides a comprehensive overview of the threats in cyberspace. In the report for 2023, the Federal Cyber
Security Authority comes to the conclusion: the threat in cyberspace is higher than ever before.
