Guardian360
Dear ,

May is an exciting month for the Guardian360 team. After a long quest, Martin started May 1 as UX developer. We look forward to working with him and our partners to design and build the future version of our platform.

Our developers have started developing scheduled scanning which means that partners will be able to decide when our scanning starts. We know that a number of partners have been asking for this feature for a long time and we are also enthusiastic about this development.

We clearly see that the attention for information security is rapidly increasing in Belgium. Together with Copaco, we were present at the Cybersec exhibition in Brussels. Guardian360 turned out to be one of the main vendors that attracted partners to come over to the Copaco booth.

In this newsletter Martin introduces himself, we share with you the results of the platinum partner roadmap survey, we inform you about the technical webinar and we clarify the differences between Guardian360 Lighthouse and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

Greetings,
On behalf of the Guardian360 team,

Jan Martijn Broekhof
Managing Director

Introduction Martin Hugo

My name is Martin Hugo and I have over 20 years experience as a designer and more than 15 years in front-end development.

I began my digital career when I was a part owner of a small recording studio. While marketing some of our bands, a part of our strategy was to use MySpace pages to help them to gather followers. I started coding with CSS and HTML and was hooked and decided to commit the rest of my career to the digital environment.

Since then I have done just about everything in the digital space including application development, website development, search engine optimisation, email campaigns and more. I have also worked in various different industries including fashion, e-commerce, insurance and medical.

My greatest achievement was in my role as a UX Engineer at Infocare Healthcare where I spent three and a half years designing a complex and modern electronic health record called Soteria. What started out as an administration tool evolved into a modern Medical application to assist medical professionals with record keeping and simplifying complex workflows.

I will be taking on the same role at Guardian360, to ensure that our Lighthouse front-end is modern and up to date, but more importantly, that it is easy to use and functional for our partners and ultimately our end users.

I look forward to working with you to make your life easier and together with our Guardian360 team, to ensure our product has all it needs to make the organisations of our partners and their clients a safer place.

I am from Cape Town in South Africa and in our country we have a saying “Die Kaap is weer Hollands” which means that everything is well again, or that order has been restored. This is very fitting for me as this is at the heart of all Guardian360 stands for and I’m excited to be a part of this journey.

Vriendelijk groet,

Martin Hugo

Lighthouse update

The results of the voting for the last platinum partner roadmap consultation are known. Besides being able to label issues, the following requests have high priority for our platinum partners:
  1. Being able to exclude IP-addresses from scanning with notation x.x.x.x-x.x.x.y
  2. Combine similar issues
  3. Exclude scanners on certain scan objects
  4. Configure scan intensity
  5. Expand CSV export of issues with summary, technical details and, if applicable, acceptance reason
  6. Trends visible on dashboard instead of static data
  7. Administrate norms per organization

Items 1, 5 and 7 have been added to the Lighthouse development backlog. For item 2 we want to use labels as well. Items 3 and 4 are part of a larger project we're running in the background which will take much more time to complete. Item 6 will be within scope of our new UX-Developer Martin.

In the past weeks we added new functionality to Guardian360 Lighthouse. We fixed some bugs also.

  • It's possible to delete contacts
  • It is possible to whitelist IP addresses for a Hacker Alert Appliance, so E.G. monitoring systems will not trigger the Hacker Alert Appliance.

Technical meetup on Guardian360 Lighthouse integration

On Thursday May 12, Guardian360 hosted a webinar via Teams to introduce some Guardian360 partners and discuss connecting to the Guardian360 Lighthouse API.

Jorik from Bruinsma ICT shared with the audience how he used Microsoft Power Automate to retrieve issues from Guardian360 Lighthouse and create Autotask tickets based on these issues. Thomas from Ratho, Jeroen from T-ICT and Gijs from Solimas participated and shared their goals and approaches for similar integration wishes.

In the upcoming weeks Guardian360 developers will team up with Jorik to bring his MVP a step further. After that, we will share a blog post and some best practices to implement a connector via Microsoft Power Automate, which can be used as a starting point for connecting other (servicedesk) software as well.

Keep an eye out for the next partner newsletters!

The webinar has been recorded and can be watched via the link below.

Guardian360 Lighthouse vs Microsoft Defender for Cloud

Over the past few months, we experienced an increase in inquiries about the differences and/or overlap of Guardian360 Lighthouse with Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

TL;DR;
In our view, both services are fully complementary and therefore partners and customers should not have to choose one or the other. What is simply needed is some form of end point protection, supplemented by scanning from the network.
