We are glad that we were able to visit our partners more this month. The scaling down of the corona restrictions has meant that we have had many encounters again. This will only increase in the coming months, for example at Cloudfest.

The fact that organizations worldwide are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of information security is clearly noticeable. Many organizations set aside additional budget for improving their information security this year. Our partners notice this in the requests for Guardian360 subscriptions. We're really happy that we support more and more clients with our Lighthouse platform. This also endorses our vision to first put and keep the basics in order, before making new investments.

Global ransomware attacks doubled, more budget for fighting ransomware

The number of ransomware attacks exploded worldwide last year. The increase was over ninety percent: 2,690 attacks were counted compared to 1,389 a year earlier. Most incidents occurred in North America (over fifty percent) and Europe (thirty percent). This emerges from the overview of threats that NCC Group publishes annually.

In the Benelux, 61 percent of organizations have allocated more budget for fighting and preventing ransomware, or are planning to do so. This is according to preliminary findings in the research on security budgets in the Benelux, which Computable is conducting together.
